Round 4 - Euterpe
The Muse of Music.
Start: D-3 Ship Tips: • Acquire the laser as quickly as possible. This will make it easier to take out several enemies at a time, and at long range. • After you've rescued all the hostages in the D-wing of the ship, take the warp in C-3. This will send you all the way to the opposite corner of the ship, saving you the risk involved in getting there conventionally. • Always be prepared to duck back into the room you just came from, as the orange mouth aliens tend to appear near the entrances. Exit, reposition yourself, and be prepared to fire. • Take out the green Defenders as quickly as possible. They will reappear more quickly than in previous ships, but they won't be distracting you while you are dealing with the mobile aliens. • You start the Euterpe round with 200 seconds on the timebomb rather than 300. Regardless, take it slow. Make note of where the aliens appear and play it smart. • Take full advantage of any time you are invincible. This occurs when you first start the round, after you've died, or after a warp is taken. There's never a better time to shoot than when they can't hit you back.
MasherTakes 17 hits to defeat. When you first face Masher, he will be towards the right side of the screen, and you will be on the left side. Using the fireball, take out the alien helpers as he advances upon you. You can also get a few hits in during this time. Then, position yourself at the bottom of the screen dead center beneath Masher, and shoot the fireball straight up between his legs as rapidly as possible. As he closes in on you, another set of alien helpers will be released. Eventually, they will fly into your line of fire. Thanks to poor collision detection, it will appear as though Masher is touching you, but it won't register. You should be able to destroy Masher before a third set of helpers is released. Recommended Weapon: Fireball Reason: The need for speed, personified. The fireball can shoot rapidly, and you'll need it since Masher moves pretty quickly. The laser, while providing excellent range, can't fire as quickly, and range won't make any difference since Masher will never be too far away from you. Definitely one of the more difficult bosses. Glitches in the game itself and chance timing play a key role here. |
